The General Instrument SP0256 is a speech synthesis chip used in various peripherals for the ZX Spectrum.

It was used as the speech synthesis chip for the following interfaces:

  • Currah μSpeech (aka. MicroSpeech)
  • Cheetah Sweet Talker
  • Fuller Orator
  • Dk'Tronics Speech Synthesiser

Also used in the variants of these interfaces for many other peripherals, e.g. Cheetah Sweet Talker for BBC Micro and various interfaces for the CPC.
